Drake
was designed specifically for open-water rowing by one rower. You can
see the bouyancy bags in the ends, her strong sheer, and generous flare
fore and aft make her very seaworthy and fast in chop and waves. A sail
rig is being developed so we can sail downwind after a long row. Drake
took heavy inspiration from the traditional Norwegian Faering fused
with Joel White's Shearwater and with a "nod to BOB", an open water
rowboat by Paul Gartside.
