Echo Bay Dory Skiff
Family Boatbuilding Webpage for Wooden Boat Show 2010
Build this boat in 2 1/2 days from our kit with Clint
Designed by Eric Risch
LOA 11'8" Beam 4'1"
Weighs 90 Lbs Sail Area 45 SF Sprit
6mm Okoume panels, Spruce, Pine, Fir and some hardwood for the keel/skeg
Can be fitted out for use as a tender or for use as a sail-and-oar boat. I have collaborated extensively with Eric on this design and others. The EBDS defines the idea of simplicity and elegance combined to make a very fast rowboat, a spirited sailboat that we recommend for experienced sailors, and makes for a very light boat that two people can easily car top. I have built about a dozen of these boats for customers who just love them. The boat will be featured in the 2010 Wooden Boat Show Family Boatbuilding event in Mystic, CT.

The Shellback Dinghy
Designed by Joel White
Kit Status: We use kits by Wooden Boat and build to the kit on a custom basis
LOA 11'2" Beam 4'5"
Weight ~110lbs Sail Area 54 SF Standing Lug
Glued-Lapstrake Okoume planking
Mahogany stem, transom, knees, gunwales, and breasthook
Cedar thwarts for lightness
TWIST was fitted out with traditional canvas gunwale guard for use as a tender

The
Shellback Dinghy rows like a dream and sails beautifully. We have
sailed TWIST a lot in anything from a whisper to 30 knots and without
reefing. Also, she has the capacity of a dory.

While
practicality and functionality is paramount in my work, so is the
details, which shows in White's beautiful transom shown here at the end
of her construction.

Note: we build this boat from CNC kits cut by Wooden Boat.
We have one used boat available (pictured here) and can build custom Shellbacks to match any need.
