The crazy green Gazec built in France! Several more have been built as part of the 3-day Family Boatbuilding events.
Gazec 12 is an outgrowth of my work with the Echo Bay Dory Skiff and collaboration with Vivier Boats. We were asked repeatedly for a small outboard skiff that can be built during our 3-day events and by families. In particular, parents and grandparents wanted a boat their kids would fit into and be safe for fun on the water with a small outboard. This boat has been built by youth in France and kits are in development here. The construction is 9mm plywood sides and bottom around a solid wood stem, CNC cut frames, and bulkeads that seal off flotation chambers. A painted or varnished solid wood center thwart would be fitted and be the primary seat for the helmsman. This skiff will plane, be unsinkable, and turn heads. We are excited! Stay tuned.
